Midpoint test

You know the middle when you see it. Or do you? This midpoint test asks you to place a marker halfway between two endpoints, without a ruler or a helpful grid. A small miss can look perfectly centered until the true midpoint appears. Play three practice rounds to get a feel for the task, then put your confidence on the line in the daily challenge. This is a quick game of visual judgment, not an eyesight examination.

How scoring works

Start with 100 points and subtract 4 points for every 1% of the line’s length between your marker and the true midpoint. The result is rounded to a whole number and cannot fall below zero. The raw miss is shown too. These are game points, not a ranking against other players.

A little head start

Compare the two remaining gaps instead of staring only at the marker. Ask whether one side looks longer.

Keep the browser at a comfortable zoom level. Fine pointer control and screen size can affect where a tap lands.

Good questions

Is this the same as calculating a midpoint?

The mathematical answer is the point halfway between the endpoints. The challenge is to find it by eye, without calculating coordinates.

Why does a centered marker sometimes look wrong?

Nearby shapes, uneven empty space and your initial guess can influence what looks centered. The revealed answer lets you compare that impression with the actual midpoint.

Can I challenge a friend?

Yes. A daily challenge link gives your friend the same dated tasks, with their own score prediction. A practice link opens this test with fresh random rounds, so it is an invitation to try the skill rather than an identical replay.
